Meet the Archaeologist Behind the Stories

From excavations and documentaries to expeditions across the Mediterranean, Darius Arya has spent his career helping people discover the ancient world through curiosity, conversation, and firsthand experience.

The image displays the name “DARIUS ARYA” in large, light yellow capital letters on a light background.

The name started with archaeology, but the digging has never stopped there. Darius digs into places, stories, discoveries, and questions that reveal something new about the ancient world and why it still matters today.

A Different Perspective

Most people encounter history through books, museums, or documentaries.

Darius believes the most meaningful understanding comes from standing where history unfolded, asking questions, and seeing familiar places through fresh eyes.

Living and working in Rome has given him a unique perspective on the ancient world. It has also shaped the way he shares it. Every documentary, expedition, lecture, and conversation is driven by the same goal: making archaeology engaging, accessible, and deeply human.

Why Rome?

Seeing Rome Through a Different Lens

Rome has been Darius' home for decades, providing a perspective that few archaeologists or historians can offer.

Living and working in the Eternal City means history is not confined to excavation sites or museum galleries. It is woven into the streets, neighborhoods, and daily rhythms of modern life. That connection informs everything Darius does, from archaeological research and documentary filmmaking to writing, teaching, and leading immersive experiences.

It is this combination of local insight, archaeological expertise, and genuine curiosity that allows visitors to experience Rome as more than a collection of landmarks. They leave with a deeper understanding of the city and the stories that continue to shape it.
